The international amateur radio exhibition is the platform for ham enthusiasts from all over the world.
Although we do know that the name HAM RADIO has nothing at all to do with the English word that we normally associate with eggs, the origin of the term HAM is not known. According to some tales it is an abbreviation based on the initials of three persons who around 1908 set up their own amateur radio station.
Almost 110 years later amateur radio has lost nothing of its fascination. Even in the days of Internet and mobile phones, many of the new technologies can be combined with this hobby and it is indeed hard to imagine being without this technology in many areas. Ultimately it is a hobby which literally connects people worldwide and in the event of disasters it can be used as effective support and coordination.
HAM RADIO serves as a platform where radio enthusiasts can get together and exchange information and experience. As one of the largest amateur radio exhibitions in the world, alongside the Hamvention Dayton/Ohio, USA and the Ham Fair in Tokyo/Japan, HAM RADIO attracts exhibitors and visitors from more than 50 countries all round the world to Friedrichshafen. A special feature of HAM is the combination of commercial exhibitors, worldwide networked associations and Europe’s largest radio flea market with over 300 participants from 25 countries.
